Vasudeva tells Wijayadasa Rajapakshe:
Correct newspaper Ad
The firm of Lawyers of the UPFA candidate for Ratnapura District
Vasudeva Nanayakkara has written to Colombo District UNP candidate
Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC to get a correction to the newspaper
advertisement claiming Rajapakshe was responsible for regaining for the
State, the Lanka Marine Services Limited (LMSL) port land and the Sri
Lanka Insurance Corporation.
The LMLS Port land and the Sri Lanka insurance privatization was
annulled by the Supreme Court on hearing two fundamental rights
petitions by Vasudeva Nanayakkara.
"You are well and truly aware, that it is our client who filed the
petitions in the above-named two Fundamental Rights Applications ... and
successfully obtained judgments from the Supreme Court annulling these
two privatizations as illegal and fraudulent, and vesting these
properties in the State."
"You, as COPE Chairman was a Respondent in the above two FR
Applications, but failed and neglected to appear to support our client's
applications, to obtain such properties to the State. Hence, how you
could make the aforesaid claim is simply preposterous, it being false
and baseless," the lawyer stated in their letter to Rajapaksa.
But Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa's advertisement has claimed that it was due
to his efforts these two privatized public ventures were vested with the
State. "Our client requires you to promptly publish a correction to the
misleading statements you have made to the public, by publishing the
truth and correct facts," the letter states.
