International Women's Day celebrations in Nepal:

Ramya Weerakoon represents Sri Lanka

Women's Chamber of Industry and Commerce Immediate Past Chairperson and the SAARC Chamber of Women Entrepreneur Council Vice Chairperson Ramya Weerakoon represented the country at the 100th International Women's Day Celebrations in Katmandu, Nepal held recently.

This four day program focused on women entrepreneurs from Nepal and the South Asian Region and the event included taking significant steps towards women's equity in trade by promoting their market linkages.

It also focused on the empowerment of women through skill development and learning to explore and make use of the opportunities. The core organizations involved in the event were the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN), the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Women Entrepreneurship Development Committee (FNCCI - WEDC) and the Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTG).

The event consisted of an International Women's SME's Business Meet and a trade fair, talk program and a workshop on brand building.

This was a good opportunity for all the participants from the region, where they were able to showcase their products and widen their skills and knowledge.

The talk program was chaired by Dr. Kiran Bedi. She shared her challenges and achievements with the audience, during her career encompassing a period of 30 years.

Weerakoon was given a token of appreciation from the FWEAN for her contributions towards SAARC Chambers of Women Entrepreneur Council.
