Most of the National Level leading sportsmen and sportswomen were
introduced to the country by the National Youth Sports Festivals of the
National Youth Services Council.

Even though the Council has not formed a hard ball cricket club in
the history of the NYSC. Filling the gap a hard ball cricket club was
formed under the guidance of the Chairman and Director General Bhaswara
Senanka Gunaratne recently at the National Youth Centre, Maharagama.
The office of the National Youth Cricket Club was commissioned by the
Chairman and to mark the occasion a set of cricket equipment worth Rs.
100,000 was also presented to the newly formed cricket pool by the
chairman.
To grace the occasion a 20-20 overs exhibition match was also played
among the club members. The representatives of the Sri Lanka Cricket
Association also present at the inaugural ceremony.
The National Youth Cricket Team will play in all cricket club
tournaments from 2010, Bhaswara Senanka Gunaratne told the Daily News. |
