Dulika inspires Mahanama to be on top

The day belonged to Mahanama College as a sparkling knock of 102 by Dulika Thissakuttige lifted them to a comfortable position in the first day of the fourth annual ‘Battle of the Golds’ cricket encounter between D.S. Senanayake College and Mahanama College started at Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) ground yesterday.

Thissakuttige’s ton which included 11 boundaries was the highlight of the Mahanama total of 285 in the first day. Dhanushka Gunathilake’s half century (79 runs)which included one six and nine boundaries also helped the Mahanama innings, supported by Sajith Ruberu’s 36 and D.Rusiru’s 31.

Vidura Sanchitha (2 for 44) and Malshan Gunasinghe (2 for 72) shared two wickets each. In reply, D.S Senanayake were struggling with 31 for 2 at stumps. The match continues today.

Thusith Silva was not out on 19 runs while Kaveen Silva chipped in with a useful knock of 12.The fourth annual Battle of the Golds is sponsored by Dialog Telekom.
