The 'Seva Vanitha' Unit of the Transport Ministry will award
scholarships for children of employees attached to the seven affiliated
institutions under the Transport Ministry purview . The ceremony will be
held on March 30 at.10 a.m. at the National Youth Council in Maharagama.
Addressing the media yesterday in Colombo, Seva Vanitha Unit's
Chairperson Pradeepa Dharmadasa said 770 children of employees working
in all institutions belonging to the Transport Ministry will be awarded
with scholarships under this program titled Sisu Diriya.
She said the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Transport Ministry Diriya
Mithuriya was set up in February to improve the well-being and the
welfare of nearly 60,000 employees coming under the Transport Ministry
and their families.
"We are committed to improve employees children's welfare, spiritual
development, education, transport, health and future prospects," she
said.
Meanwhile, the Seva Vanitha Unit will organize Diriya Mithuriya
Sinhala and Hindu New Year fair and carnival at the Shalika play grounds
in Narahenpita on April 1 and 2.
A special bus service from Ratmalana, Nugegoda, Borella, Dehiwala,
Moratuwa and main railway stations will be organized for public
convenience. |
