Vast development during past four years
The last four years have seen vast development in rural
infrastructure facilities throughout the country.
This is in addition to the gigantic development projects in progress
including airports, harbours, expressways, flyovers and new power
plants, said Vocational and Technical Training Deputy Minister and UPFA
candidate P. Radhakrishnan.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa's sole objective is to transform Sri
Lanka into a leading developed nation, he said. Speaking at a meeting at
De Soysapura flats, Moratuwa recently, Radhakrishnan said there had been
unprecedented development activities taking place in all districts under
the tenure of the Government.
Already 100 vocational training centres have been completed in
keeping with the Mahinda Chinthana program bringing the total number of
such centres to 300, he said.
Radhakrishnan said nearly 70,000 youth undergo training at these
centres annually and his ministry's intention was to increase this to
100,000 youth.
Radhakrishnan said a grateful people had entrusted the ship of State
to President Rajapaksa for a further term at the recent Presidential
election.
This meant that the incumbent President will hold office for a
further eight years.
It was therefore the duty of the people to give him a strong
Parliament to continue his good work without hassle, he said. |
