Behold the Lamb

A talented blend of Youth Choirs of St. Thomas’ Church, Kotte, will
come on stage at the Navarangahala on Saturday March 20th at 6.30 pm to
lift their voices in harmony in celebration of the ‘Lamb’ whose
sacrificial death on the cross on Good Friday and triumphant
Resurrection on Easter Sunday ushered in the dawn of Salvation to
mankind.
Behold the Lamb would be an evening of inspirations hymns and songs
of praise in aid of the Mission House Building Fund.
The choirs performing at this Lenten and Easter presentation of song
and meditation will include St. Thomas’ Kotte Youth Choir, the Little
Flower Choir, the Daham Pasala choir and the Young Adult Movement Choir
all from St. Thomas’ Church, Kotte.
Guest performances will be presented by The Saints a popular choral
outfit led by Suren Abeysekera, Anno Domini, currently the most popular
country and western band in town led by Shehan Perera, as well as solo
performances by inimitable Milroy and Bosco.
The repertoire will include some of the most popular classical
Christian hymns as well as modern songs of praise and worship while the
meditation will provide spiritually uplifting reflections to make Lent
and Easter more meaningful to Christians.
Behold the lamb is presented by the Building Committee of St. Thomas’
Church, Kotte with a view to making our Lenten devotions and Easter
celebrations more meaningful as would the Christmas carols during the
Christmas season while also raising funds for the Mission House Building
Project.
Easter is the most important and central event in the history of
salvation.
It is envisaged that such performances during Lent and Easter would
enhance our efforts to restore this great feast to its rightful position
in the Christian calendar far above Christmas. Tickets are available at
St. Thomas’ Church Kotte as well as at the gate at Navarangahala on the
day of the performance.

DJ Ahmet Sendil live in Colombo

Events and Entertainment are ready to rock Colombo hard and make it the
biggest party event of the year as Turkey makes its footprint to the
shores of Sri Lanka with the live performance of DJ Ahmet Sendil tonight
starting from 9.00 at the Mount Lavinia Beach House.
Ahmet Sendil, began his dj career in 1989 at Studio 54 which is known
to be the first club in Turkey and there on played in the countrr’s
other nightclubs.
Ahmet has held residencies at Club 14, Club 20, and Switch in
Istanbul and played in Germany, England, Mexico, Switzerland, Sweden,
Bulgaria, India, Brazil, France, Italy and more. He also is a Friday
Resident DJ of FG which is the best alternative radio station in Turkey.
Over the years, Sendil hasn’t simply been playing great music, he’s been
making it too.
In 2008, all of the Ahmet’s original tracks and remixes have been
placed on Beatport Top 100 Chart. Above all, Nico Diorio – Shop (Ahmet
Sendil Remix) stayed on Beatport Minimal Chart Top 100 as number one for
many weeks. Lately his Alex Kenji – Adelante Remix and Federico Milani
made No 1 at Beatport Minimal.
Also his Don’t Get Lost Remix had been reached at second place at
Beatport Minimal top 100. After those success Ahmet Sendil had been
nominated for Best Minimal Artist of 2008 at Beatport and awarded the
3rd Best Minimal Artist.
Already, his tracks are being used by famous DJ’s set in the world.
In 2007, Ahmet formed his record labels M-Vitamine and Bosphorus
Underground Recordings. Through this vehicle, Ahmet continues to release
his music as well as focusing on nurturing other promising Artists.
The other DJs who will be playing for the night is DJ Yazz, Ranga,
Dishan and Rachith with their now trademark deep house sounds. Tickets

Jazz at dusk

Trans Jazz Quartet and Revel Crake & Co. to transport you through the
smooth and delightful world of jazz. Welcome to Jazz at Dusk, the
monthly jazz evening at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo.
Jazz at Dusk will take place on Friday, 19 March, from 7.30 pm
onwards by the poolside at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo.
The evening features two popular local jazz bands – Trans Jazz
Quartet and Revel Crake & Co. Trans Jazz Quartet comprises Gavin Sen on
saxophone, Alston Joachim on bass and electric guitar, Shiraz Noor Amit
on drums and Dilrukshi Sirimanne on keyboards and vocals.
Meanwhile, Revel Crake & Co. features Rodney Van Heer on saxophone,
Revel Crake on guitar, Ray Gomes on bass and Christopher Prins on drums.
Both groups are renowned for their true musicianship, so you can be sure
of a real treat!
The music will encompass an eclectic repertoire of jazz from great
legends, such as Diana Krall, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Miles
Davis, Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck, George Gershwin, Billy Strayhorn,
Chic Corea, Sadao Watanabe, Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour and Larry Carlton,
to name a few, covering a cross-section of the early years of
traditional jazz to the exciting and innovative modern era.
The vast array of tunes will cover styles as diverse as swing,
traditional jazz, blues, Latin, jazz funk and strict tempo.
Entrance is free. Rich music, delicious food, a view of the pool and
the Beira Lake and the star-studded canopy of the sky all make for the
most refreshing end to a long week!
