Two commemorative accommodation packages have been introduced including the anniversary and Elephant Reach surprise which are the the anniversary package offering a deluxe room on full board basis, safari ride to the Yala National Park, welcome amenity, bottle of wine, and an anniversary commemorative gift, on double occupancy.

For guests who wish to try their luck, the Elephant Reach Surprise package on full board basis, an anniversary commemorative gift with an Elephant Reach Surprise envelope.

Guests can draw an envelope upon arrival to win instantly one of five prizes including room upgrade, two award winning cocktails at the Mahout’s Bar, gift voucher woth Rs 1,500 to be spent on F&B, discount coupons for next stay, or an Elephant Reach gift voucher for two nights on half board basis.

Sweden takes Mount Lavinia Hotel by storm

Sweden being a new market excelling in the inbound travellers to Sri Lanka and indeed a potential market to be a strong contender for the top spot in inbound tourism, Mount Lavinia Hotel took the initiative to highlight the relationship and make the people of Sri Lanka aware of the super storm that is whirling into Sri Lanka to highlight Sri Lanka a notch more.

“We at Mount Lavinia Hotel are en par with growth facets in terms of potential travellers arriving in Sri Lanka and we will cater to their personal needs and in the same time people of Sri Lanka too need to be aware of the market that is making waves hence the reason for a Swedish Culinary Festival,” MLH General Manager Anura Dewapura said.

Traditional Swedish cooking cannot be compared with the sophistication of French or Italian cuisine. Swedish food is usually simple and satisfying, and nowadays also healthy. Yet in the last few decades borrowed luxuries from other culinary cultures have enriched their food culture with a host of exciting dishes.

Elegance and refinement with delicate taste sensations by the young generation of Swedish Chefs has made it exciting by creating innovative dishes with both colour and design however totally inspired by the richness of centuries old Swedish culinary traditions. Lingonberries, cloudberries, root vegetables, Baltic herring, wild game and not least Västerbotten cheese in new ways are the main essence in the recipes.

Guest Chef Mats from the Grand Hotel will cook up the Swedish delicacies. Some of the many dishes that will be yours to venture from March 17th to 21st particularly the March 20th will be Tartar of Norwegian Salmon Gravad Salmon Kalix Bleak Roe, Pink Roasted Filet Reindeer with Morel Sauce and Lingon. And indeed the Grand and Lavinia Dessert flavours of Cloud Berry, Nordic Blue Berries, Lingon Berries and Condiments.

March 20th will be an exclusive dinner that will take on a typical contemporary Swedish spread yet touches of a Swedish summertime which is closely affiliated with sensuality and enjoyment, can be yours to be whetted. The Governor’s Rooftop being the venuw will be serenading to a string quartet directed by Ananda Dabare.


French arrivals confirmed

Around 5000 to come to SL:

Antipodes Voyages Chairman Alain Clavel and Director Frank Manin of France arrived in Colombo, as VIP guests at the Galadari Hotel on Monday morning and were welcomed by General Manager Sampath Siriwardena and Ceylon Tours Chandra Ediriweera.

Antipodes voyages recently signed an agreement with Srilankan airlines to bring 5000 French Tourists from France for the 2010/11 seasons. This contract ensures a Minimum of 120 Tourists, each week on Sri Lankan airlines Paris for a whole year.

All this was initiated by G.L. Pieris, who had initial meetings with Antipodes in September in Lyon and actively encouraged them to invest in Sri Lanka as a preferred Tourist destination and use it as a Tourist Hub for their operations in South East Asia.

The Management of Antipodesare here in Sri Lankan for a week, to have further discussions with the Minister Pieris,Sri Lankan airlines, Hoteliers, Airport Authorities and others linked to the travel Industry.

“Galadari Hotel is delighted to host the first French Tour Operator, who had taken taken huge a step, not only in taking the commitment to invest in assuring 5000 tourists, but deciding to open their regional Office in the country,” Sampath said.
