For the sixth consecutive year the Raigam Tele Awards, organized by
the Kingdom of Raigam will take to the stage before the public at the
Sri Lanka Exhibition and convention Center (SLECC) on May 9. The glitter
and glamour evening felicitates the best of talent in the mini screen.
The awards ceremony was initiated by the company to popularize and
felicitate the creativity and contributions of artistes and crew who
have contributed to the development of the industry.
The most popular teledrama, mega teledrama, actor and actress will be
chosen via viewer’s votes: SMS on 0773337337. The voting sessions begins
from April 1 and goes on till midnight on May 5. Participants who are
able to mane the winners correctly will get two tickets to watch the
event live.
“Last year we centered the theme on Sigiriya. This year the theme of
the event is Taj Mahal because most of the teledramas made in 2009 were
based on romance,” Raigam Chairman Dr. Ravi Liyanage noted.
Some striking episodes from teledramas, dramas, dance and special
items will be featured in the entertainment in the entertainment
line-up. An honourary presentation to an individual in the sector who
had done immense service to the industry is also in store.
Last year the award was handed over to iconic television personality
Titus Thotawatte last year. Raigam Director Finance Prashantha
Nanayakkara, Managing Director Ganaka Amarasinghe, Deputy Chairman
Kishan Theadore and Director Marketing Jagath Dharmajeewa were also
present at the press briefing.
The awards ceremony is a part of the company’s corporate social
responsibility for the advancement of the teledrama industry.
