UPFA will create history - Power Minister

The UPFA Government under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa will win a historic two thirds people’s mandate at the forthcoming general election, said Power and Energy Minister and SLFP Ratnapura District Leader W. D. J. Seneviratne addressing SLFP activists in the Ratnapura district at meetings held in Ratnapura following the dissolution of Parliament.

He said the UPFA had already made history by winning 16 elections at a stretch since 1994. Although the UNP lead Opposition tried to deceive the masses by giving false promises to the intelligent voters had taught a bitter lesson to the Opposition and its so-called common candidate by giving a 58 percent mandate to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

It was most strange to see the Opposition common candidate who did not have an iota of political experience refusing to accept the polls result.

Seneviratne said Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had declared the Presidential election as free and fair. Despite election manipulation charges levelled by the JVP leader the Elections Commissioner had dismissed such claims by declaring the Presidential election as free and fair.
