UNP, JVP attempted to cause mayhem

The UNP and JVP activists who attempted to cause mayhem after forcibly entering into the Courts complex at Hulftsdorp had planned to take the country into a chaotic situation the same way on the January 27 after barging into Temple Trees following the Presidential election, Foreign Employment Promotion Minister and spokesman for National Security Keheliya Rambukwella said.

The Minister said every citizen in the country was bound to respect the law of the land and added that the activities launched by the Opposition on Wednesday had caused disrespect to the judiciary.

The participation of Opposition activists who are engaged in legal sphere should be totally condemned. Even the general public have expressed revulsion over their involvement there on that day, the Minister said.

These people's involvement in the ugly incidents have clearly indicated the unfortunate situation the country would have fallen into in the event of Sarath Fonseka coming into power even by chance, he said.
