Tourism complexes to be set up

Construction of three complete tourism complexes under a new concept inclusive of all facilities for the tourism industry will be initiated in the Jaffna, Mannar and Mullativu districts this year to achieve the goal of bringing in 2.5 million tourists to Sri Lanka in 2016 in keeping with the Mahinda Chintana Idiri Dekma.

Tourism Minister Achala Jagoda told the Daily News that the future of the tourism industry in Sri Lanka is promising with the elimination of three decade prolonged terrorism under the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and it has been proved by the fact that it has been identified as the best country in the world to travel.

He said almost all rooms of the star grade hotels were booked by foreign tourists until April.
