More Russian schols in the offing

More Sri Lankan students will receive scholarships from Russian universities, Chairman of Russian Friendship Society, Education Minister Susil Premajayanth said.

The Russian Government will take measures to increase the number of scholarships offered to Sri Lankan students following various degree programs in universities including medicine, engineering, Information Technology and many other spheres.

Following discussions between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Vice Chancellor of the Russian Friendship University, Russia has taken this decision to give more opportunities to Sri Lankan students to follow undergraduate programs in Russia.

The Moscow University along with the Higher Education Ministry and the Education Ministry of Sri Lanka will jointly arrange and finalize this program.

Russia has expressed willingness to assist Sri Lanka to expand Information Technology education in the country, Minister Premajayanth added.
