In the annals of Sri Lanka, President Mahinda Rajapaksa takes the
pride of place for his historic importance of wiping out the terrorism
and taking the country towards the development process. Muslims, Tamil
and Sinhalese Communities should work together with mutual
understanding, dedication and devotion to contribute the best towards
prosperous, progressive, wealthy and healthy nation under the visionary
Leadership of Mahinda Rajapaksa based on Mahinda Chintana as guidance
for the future prospects, said South Eastern University Vice Chancellor
Dr. S.M.M. Ismail.
The Vice Chancellor was addressing the Deans, Heads of departments,
Students and academics and non academic Staff at the Sri Lanka's 62nd
national Independence Day Celebrations held at the Oluvil Campus of the
South Eastern University yesterday.
Dr. Ismail said independence is to facilitate the public to enjoy
benefits.
The Ceylon Moors celebrate independence happily with the Sinhalese.
As far as the independence of Sri Lanka is concerned, the Muslims
have played their roles in 1921, the leader of Ceylon National Congress,
Baron Jayatilaka has stated.
"When various problems and criticisms cropped up about the handing
over of the responsibility of power to rule Sri Lanka. Barrister PMA
Cader and others have shown their interest with priority to the whole
country instead of Muslim community".
In the Donoughmoore Legislative Council, Abdul Rahman, Proctor H.N.M.
Abdul Cader, T.B. Jayah in respect of the Government matters, have
emphasized on the importance of Social rights for the national rights.
In this circumstance, the Proposal suggested for the nation-wide
representation instead of the Class wise representation, Dr Ismail said
Though this Proposal was not good for Muslims, they accepted it, as
it was good for the Ceylonese to get the ruling power in their hands, he
said
In this way Leaders have never moved away from the point of
advantages of power to the whole nation.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has liberated Sri Lanka, safeguarded Sri
Lankans and defended the Independence of Sri Lanka from the terrorism,
said the Vice Chancellor. |
