Middle stage income earning country:

Mahinda Chintana proves success

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has promoted Sri Lanka as a middle stage income earning country. This itself is an indication that the economic vision of Mahinda Chintana has won its prestigious place throughout the world, said Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake addressing the Matale Media Association at a conference held at the Matale MC Assembly Hall.

The Chief Minister said although all the European countries became the victims of the global recession, Sri Lanka was not affected because of its economic resilience gained under Mahinda Chintana. Country's main commercial market depends on tea, rubber and coconuts prices fluctuate and the country got affected. Mahinda Chintana has given the people strength to withstand all the consequences.

The President never diverted his development drive back, but moved forward amidst the LTTE war. He said the role of the media is important to convey the message of development measures for the benefit of the country.
