Russian leader Dmitry A. Medvedev

Russian Federation President Dmitry A. Medvedev congratulated President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his victory at the Presidential election.

Medvedev in his message stated: “Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your victory at the presidential elections. I am confident that the policy being consistently conducted by you aimed at economic development and strengthening of stability will continue to actively settle social and political issues in the country.

For more than 50 years, relations between Russia and Sri Lanka have been invariably based upon friendship and mutual respect. There is no doubt that your forthcoming visit to Russia will provide additional momentum to the intensifying of the long-term mutually beneficial ties between our states.

I wish you, Mr. President, good health and success, as well as peace and prosperity to the people of Sri Lanka.”
