Danushka and Mubarak to undergo training in South Africa

Two outstanding ruggerites of CR and FC and Sri Lanka full back Reza
Mubarak and flanker Danushka Perera will leave today for South Africa to
undergo training at the Western Province Sports Institute in
Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Former Sri Lanka national coaches Dawie Snyman and Norman Laker will
conduct the coaching clinic which will last eight weeks.
The Longden Place club hopes that the experience gained by these two
players will stand them in good stead during the 2010 rugby season.
Every year the Red Shirts will be sending two players to the Western
Province Sports Institute, South Africa for training.
Sri Lanka and Kandy Sports Club second row forward Zaffer Jahn is the
latest addition in the Longden Place Club. Jahn who turned out for CH
and FC in 2008 crossed over to Kandy SC last year.
CR and FC have also obtained the services of CH and FC and Sri Lanka
ruggerites Bilal Hassen and Sharo Fernando in addition to five top
schoolboy ruggerites of last year Isipatanians Niroshan Fernando,
Vishwamithra Jayasinghe and the Thomian trio of Sachin David, Roshenka
Kodituwakku and Arjunan Manoharan.
The Longden Place club will be led by Sri Lanka number eight Dushanth
Lewke and their aim will be to regain the Caltex ‘A’ Division League
Title which has eluded them for the last eleven years.
Meanwhile, former Sri Lanka youth player Jehan CanagaRetna will be
elected uncontested for the second successive year at the annual general
meeting of the club which will be held on January 24 (Sunday).
Former Thomian, Havelocks and CR and FC lock forward Rienzie Fernando
will be re-elected Deputy President while ex-Thomian and Sri Lanka
centre Christopher Jordashe will be the Vice President once again with
Sunimal Kurumbalapitiya to remain as the Secretary. |
