Forged ballots marked with 'swan' detected

Navaratne said Pettah Police had recovered two parcels containing 22,000
forged ballot papers with the marking of General Sarath Fonseka's symbol
Swan.
Senior DIG Navaratne addressing the media yesterday evening at the
IGP's headquarters said these two parcels containing forged ballot
papers were detected by two Police personnel attached to the Pettah
Police, which were ready for despatch to the Puttalam District.
Senior DIG appealed to the public if they have any information of
such forged documents being prepared to bring it to the notice of the
nearest police station over Telephone number 119.
Criminal Investigation Department DIG Nandana Munasinghe said they
have taken three persons into custody who had attempted to assassinate
the President with the assistance of a Tamil politician who is now
living abroad.
