NCCSL seminar:

Maximizing income from deposits/investments

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka held a seminar on "How To Maximize Your Income From Deposits / Investments" on January 12, at the Chamber Auditorium.

The seminar was moderated by NCCSL Secretary Thilak Godamanna.

The first speaker CEO Acuity Securities Amal Fernando gave a very comprehensive presentation on the importance of Treasury Bills and Treasury Bonds etc. and the procedure in dealing with this aspect of securities. AGM, Project Finance & Credit Management of the National Savings Bank Christine Jesudian, explained the benefits of various deposit schemes in savings.

Millers Director S. R. Balachandran taking into consideration the tax exemption granted for Treasury Bill income and the differential structure on bank deposits explained the details of a mathematical formula based on which an individual could maximize his income after tax. Ten cases were explained by him. In addition he stressed on the importance of granting tax relief to private sector employees. The topic being a very important subject, the seminar was well attended.
