Suraj Bandara
President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s far-sighted management skills helped
defeat terrorism, said Education Minister Susil Premajayanth.
He was speaking at a ceremony to open the newly constructed
playground for students of the Ashoka College-Maradana, Colombo 10, last
week.
“The war had become a menace to Sri Lanka for almost 30 years. But we
as Sri Lankans were very fortunate to elect President Mahinda Rajapaksa
as President.
After having streamlined all spheres of the management of the
country, he gave the leadership to the war, to end the terrorism. The
management skills of the President helped end the war,” the Minister
said.
The Minister emphasized that the President’s objective is to fulfill
the people’s aspirations as early as possible. “Now there is a conducive
environment for students, teachers and parents to move anywhere in the
island without fear and suspicion. Peace is equally beneficial to all
from North to South and from West to East,” he said.
The South Thalangama Water’s Edge Playground once a property of the
Kaduwela Pradeshiya Sabha was declared open for students. This was an
urgent response for a long-felt shortcoming of a playground for the
students of the region. Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna
Ranatunga, Kaduwela
Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman G.H. Buddhadasa and Ashoka College,
Maradana, Principal Prasanna Upashantha were also present. |
