Asian Junior Tennis semis today
Richard DWIGHT
It was most unfortunate that the semi-finals of the Under-14 ITF
Asian Tennis Championship which was scheduled to take place yesterday at
Sarawak, Malaysia had to be put off for today due to inclement weather.
The boys representing Sri Lanka are Shamal Dissanayake, Nishangan
Nadaraja, Alex Fairbanks with Sanjeev Mohankumar as reserve, whilst the
girls representing Sri Lanka are Kavindhya de Silva, Thisuni Molligoda,
Nethmi Waduge with Thiruni Devaraj as reserve.
The International Tennis Federation Under-14 Asian Championship 2010
Group II is being held in conjunction with the Asian Tennis Federation
at Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
The significant thing about this current tournament is that ITF will
choose the best four girls/boys to the ITF team to play in the Zone I in
China this year. From the Zone I ITF Tournament, the ITF will choose the
best girls/boys in the Asian team who will tour Europe for six weeks
during the course of the year.
