Environment symposium in Havana
Cuba: Experts from Cuba, Ecuador, the USA and Panama will take part
in the International Symposium on Culture, Science and Nature, to be
held from January 19 to 21 in the Convent of St. Francis of Assis in
this capital.
The event will be attended by Ecuadorian and Panamanian specialists
and representatives from the US- Smithsonian Institution’s National
Museum of the American Indian, President of the Antonio Nuñez Jimenez
Foundation for Nature and Humanity said. She pointed out that
deliberations will be dedicated to Nuñez Jimenez’s multifaceted life and
work.
Antonio Nuñez Jimenez founded in 1940 the Cuban Speleological
Society, in 1962 headed the organizing commission of Cuba’s Science
Academy and was later Deputy Cultural Minister.
The program includes topics as the current environmental crisis, the
local sustainable development that defends the biocultural diversity,
science, culture, technology and education for a new environmental
conscience.
