Clean UNP first - Minister

Sarath Fonseka has to clean up the UNP which is involved in a numerous corrupt activities prior to his talking about corruption in other political parties, the Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services Minister Maithreepala Sirisena said.

"UNP is the party which is liable for so many corruptions. Therefore, Fonseka has to clean up the UNP first" he said at a press briefing held in Colombo yesterday.

Fonseka is standing on a mountain of garbage more like the Bloemendhal garbage dump site since the UNP is liable for many corruptions. Fonseka is giving various promises day by day at the election meetings. But those promises are hard to fulfil. A person who will never come to power can give any number of promises. At the 1977 general election late President J.R. Jayewardene promised to give eight pounds of grains for each citizen per week. However the promise was never fulfilled, Sirisena added.

However the present Government had completed most promises of the 'Mahinda Chinthana' policy program.

If Ranil Wickremesinghe by some chance came to power in 2005 what could Sarath Fonseka have done, could he say now he quiried.

Speaking on the price of rice Minister Sirisena pointed out that there is a slight rise in the prices of commodities during the festive season. Therefore the Government has taken every possible step to bring down the price of rice.

Power and Energy Minister W.D.J. Seneviatne said. The Election campaign of President Mahinda Rajapaksa is in full swing but the opposition campaign is fading away day by day.

According to the recent the collective agreement a plantation worker is paid Rs. 417 daily wage of amounting to Rs. 10,425 monthly if one works 25 days per month. Without knowing these facts Fonseka stresses that a estate worker would be paid more than Rs. 10,000 salary per month, Minister Senavirathne added.

The Government has taken steps to overcome the power crisis in the country constructing several hydro and coal power plants aiming to supply an uninterrupted service throughout the day, he further said.

Minister Seneviratne further stressed that he will never cross over to any political party. "I have been in politics with the Sri Lanka Freedom party for over 40 years have not taken even a breath from any other party" The Minister rejected the rumours that he will join the opposition .

When going down the world memory lane no military person who came to power could lead countries forward in world politics. Fonseka is not an exception.
