Suspects re-remanded

The six suspects including Kekirawa UNP Chief Organiser Chandima Gamage held in connection with an allegation of causing a disturbance near the Kekirawa bus stand on December 16 and also posing death threats to a group of people were re-remanded till January 4 when they were produced before Kekirawa Magistrate Srinith Wijesekara by the Kekirawa Police yesterday.

Police submitted that a gun, two ‘galkatas’ weapons and six cartridges were seized from the possession of the suspects during their arrest.

The other five suspects are A.H. Thushara, K. Siriwardena, R.M. Navaratne, G. Ekanayake and R.M. Sugath Janaka. A Police party led by Kekirawa Police OIC Chief Inspector Kapila Abeynayake and directed by DIG Kithsiri Dayananda and SSP K.M. Samarakoon.
