Alleged war crime allegations against Army:

CP condemns

The Communist Party of Sri lanka condemned with all vehemence the war crime allegations made against the Sri Lankan Army by the United Nations Special Rapporteur.

This move on the part of the UN officials, timing it with the on-going Presidential Election campaign, based on a statement made to the media by a Presidential candidate is clearly a surreptitious attempt on their part to interfere in domestic politics and to influence or intimidate the voters in the Presidential Election.

This attempt is nothing but a continuation of the international conspiracy engineered by the vested interests in connivance with the forces of domestic reaction in the post-conflict political scenario.

Frustrated and angered by their failure to make an intervention in the conflict in the final phase of the military operations, the foreign vested interests are now attempting to resurrect their interventionist moves through UN officials to cause a regime change or to destabilise the country.

The Communist Party of Sri Lanka reiterates its call on the progressive forces of the country to exercise optimum vigilance on the conspiratorial designs and moves of the UNP and JVP in connivance with the foreign vested interests at this critical juncture of the post-conflict history of Sri Lanka.

It is necessary to frustrate, abort and defeat these international conspiracies and that can be ensured only by securing a resounding victory for President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Election.
