The UPFA Colombo Presidential Election Campaign Office was opened at 115, Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 7 by Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Leader and Colombo District UPFA Presidential Election Campaign Leader Dinesh Gunawaudena yesterday. Here Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana, Housing Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena, Presidential Advisor A. H. M. Azwer, former MP Somaweera Chandrasiri, Professor Nalin de Silva, Attorney-at-Law Hariguptha Rohanadeera, Western Provincial Council former Minister Gamini Thilakasiri and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Vice Chairman Yadamin Gunawardena attending the ceremony together with Minister Gunawardena.

Addressing the UPFA officials and activists of the district Ven Elle Gunawansa Thera in his sermon said, the forthcoming Presidential Election was more than an election, an opportunity for the people of this country to express their appreciation and gratitude to President Mahinda Rajapaksa who liberated the country from the terrorists ending a three-decade era of blood, tears and destruction of human lives. According to the teachings of Buddhism the Buddha who achieved supreme enlightenment under the shade of the Bo tree spent seven days looking at the tree that gave him comfort for seven days in gratitude.

Minister Gunawardena said the campaign office was in fact a symbol of great victory for President Rajapaksa during an era that will be recorded in the history of the country in golden letters.

Those anti national forces that barred the liberation of the country were spending sleepless nights even now to destabilize the country. But the people of the country even in the remotest villages were aware they should protect the country by electing President Rajapaksa for a second term of office. There was not the slightest doubt that the President will achieve a great victory on January 26, next year.
