‘Munchee’ national volleyball C’ship 2009/10

A concerted effort is being made by both the Sri Lanka Volleyball
Federation, (SLVF) and the Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL) to further
enhance and maintain the progress achieved by the Country’s National
Game, Volleyball - when the CBl under its flagship brand ‘Munchee’ will
for the fourth successive year sponsor the National Volleyball
championship.
It is being organized and conducted by the SLVF, that will start in
January and conclude in March 2010.
This National Game does appeal to those in the rural, as well as
urban areas to enjoy wide ranging popularity all this is mainly due to
the assistance given by CBL to ensure that the game amidst rapidly
growing popularity, keeps foreign ahead.
If in earlier times there were 1000 participating teams for this
championship, there will be around 4300 teams in the fray, calling for
much coordination and administrative ability to which the SLVF as in the
past is well geared for.
These informative details were gathered from the President of the
SLVF Dilan Perera, who is also the minister of Port Development and, the
Group Director Head of Marketing and Sables, CBL, Nanda Wickramage, when
they addressed a media briefing on Thursday evening, at the Galadari
Hotel.
Last year the winners in the Men’s Division was the Sri lanka Army
and runners up were Ports Authority.
In the women’s category the winners were the Sri Lanka Railway while
the Ports Authority was runner up. The cash awards this year is expected
to be higher than last year.
The scheduled Programme
Division II- Matches
* Electoral/ Zonal Level January - 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31.
* Provincial Level February - 13, 14, 20, 21.
* National Level February - 27, 28.
Finals
Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation has made arrangements to play the
finals of the Munchee National Volleyball Championship 2009/10 during
the third week of March 2010.
The entries for the Munchee National Volleyball Championship, should
be sent on or before 9th January 2010 to.
