Brigadier D.R.N.S. Dembatapitiya has been promoted to the rank of Major General by Army Commander Lt. Gen Jagath Jayasooriya with effect from November 30.

Major General Dembatapitiya has been detailed to be the Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North Central).

Dembatapitiya who joined the Sri Lanka Army as a second lieutenant has completed 31 years in the force in the ranks of lieutenant Captain, Major lieutenant colonel, Colonel and Brigadier in the Northern and Eastern provinces.
