Opposition candidate would be rejected by the people - FM

The "United National Party (UNP) and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) have fallen into a sorry pass not being able to field their own candidates for the upcoming Presidential Election but have put forward a common candidate in a bid to make their dream a success," Kotte Sri Lanka Freedom Party Chief Organizer, Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said.

The Minister added that a vain attempt is being made by the opposition to achieve their narrow political ends by making use of the true freedom ushered in the country by the war heroes at the cost of their lives under the leadership and proper direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Commander in Chief. The Minister, emphasized that all citizens of this country would reject the opposition common candidate on the 26th instant.

The Minister was addressing a public meeting held recently at Piliyandala, Polgasowita area to ensure the victory of President Mahinda Rajapaksa who has come forward as the common candidate of the Public.

The Minister added that a dedicated effort should be made for the successful implementation of projects and programs. Launched by the Government to develop the economy of this country.

"This is absolutely necessary at this juncture when attempts are made to bring about national harmony after bringing the whole country under one umbrella," the Minister said.

The Minister observed that President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is a mature politician with more than forty years experience in the field of politics was like a friend and a brother to every citizen of this country.

"He has created an environment for the future generation to live in peace and the programs launched by him to make Sri Lanka a major developed country in the world should be given momentum," the Minister said.

The Minister emphasized that Fonseka who is the common candidate representing the JVP which is an extreme leftist party and the UNP which belongs to the far right should tell the people whether he is following the policies of the UNP or those of the JVP.
