Opposition candidate would be rejected by the people - FM
The "United National Party (UNP) and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)
have fallen into a sorry pass not being able to field their own
candidates for the upcoming Presidential Election but have put forward a
common candidate in a bid to make their dream a success," Kotte Sri
Lanka Freedom Party Chief Organizer, Foreign Minister Rohitha
Bogollagama said.
The Minister added that a vain attempt is being made by the
opposition to achieve their narrow political ends by making use of the
true freedom ushered in the country by the war heroes at the cost of
their lives under the leadership and proper direction of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Commander in Chief. The
Minister, emphasized that all citizens of this country would reject the
opposition common candidate on the 26th instant.
The Minister was addressing a public meeting held recently at
Piliyandala, Polgasowita area to ensure the victory of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa who has come forward as the common candidate of the Public.
The Minister added that a dedicated effort should be made for the
successful implementation of projects and programs. Launched by the
Government to develop the economy of this country.
"This is absolutely necessary at this juncture when attempts are made
to bring about national harmony after bringing the whole country under
one umbrella," the Minister said.
The Minister observed that President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is a
mature politician with more than forty years experience in the field of
politics was like a friend and a brother to every citizen of this
country.
"He has created an environment for the future generation to live in
peace and the programs launched by him to make Sri Lanka a major
developed country in the world should be given momentum," the Minister
said.
The Minister emphasized that Fonseka who is the common candidate
representing the JVP which is an extreme leftist party and the UNP which
belongs to the far right should tell the people whether he is following
the policies of the UNP or those of the JVP.
