Navy National Sailing Champions

Navy Sailing Pool emerged victorious at the National Sailing Championship 2009 held at the Bolgoda Lake. The winners were awarded trophies by Janashakthi Insurance.

All three places in the Enterprise class event were won by the Navy. WPK Janaka (helm) and WAR Nishantha (crew) won the first place while RPI Pushpakumara (helm) and W.P.U.S. Kumara (crew) came second. N.G.M.U. Gnanawardane (helm) and A.P.S.K. Soysa (crew) came third. In the Laser Class event T.T.B. Kodituwakku won the first place and K.G.C.U.S. Bandara came third.

The National Sailing Championship is a major event in the local sailing scene. Which draws many professional sailors from Sailing Clubs in the country. This major title has brought glory to the Navy as Sailing as a sporting event which is synonymous with Navy.
