Over 85 percent EP Muslims with President - Athaullah

National Congress Leader and Water Supply and Drainage Minister A.L.M. Athaullah yesterday stated that more than 85 percent of Muslim population in the Eastern Province would vote in support of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the impending Presidential Election. Addressing a media conference at the Information Department, Minister Athaulla commended President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the only Leader who true to his words freed the people in the Eastern Province by eradicating LTTE terrorism as pledged to the people in the Province at a Convention of the National Congress held at Akkaraipattu four years ago.

“The only request made by the people in the Eastern Province was to free the East from the vicious clutches of LTTE terrorism,” Minister Athaullah said adding that President Rajapaksa fulfilled this wish before the lapse of four years.

The Minister stated that as a mark of gratitude the National Congress invited President Mahinda Rajapaksa to the National Congress Convention held in Akkaraipattu in August this year.
