Plantations served best under President

The greatest service to the plantation areas in the sphere of educational upliftment was rendered only during President Mahinda Rajapaksa's tenure during the past four year period and more than 5,000 teaching appointments were also given to estate people during this period, Workers' Liberation Front Leader and former Central Provincial Council Minister S. Arulsamy said.

Therefore, these people are eagerly looking forward to show their gratitude to President Mahinda Rajapaksa who ensured a bright future for their children he said.

Out of the teaching appointments, nearly 3000 appointments were given en masse among these people and this is an unprecedented service by any Head of State in Sri Lanka, he said.

During the four years nearly 200 schools were opened in the plantation areas. Provision of physical resources and infrastructure facilities to large number of other schools was also highly commendable. Several Ministerial and Deputy Ministerial posts to serve those hapless people were also granted by the President, Arulsamy said. IP
