Opposition plans destabilization

There is a conspiracy to destabilize the country with the backing of
certain international forces during the Presidential Election campaign,
Environment and Natural Resources Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka
said.

“It also aims to put forward a theory that the country is isolated
from the international community after the terrorists were defeated,”
the Minister said.
He said UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe connived with certain foreign
forces to provide LTTE terrorists with sophisticated satellite
communications and funds. This is recorded in the book My Belly is White
written by the former Defence Secretary Austin Fernando. “During the
last stage of the humanitarian operation the LTTE used these equipment
to distort news about our country to discredit the government and the
armed forces,” he said. Former PM’s Secretary Bradman Weerakoon in his
book Rendering Unto Caesar has written that Ranil Wickremesinghe asked
him to hold on to the Triple R policy until the LTTE was given an
Interim Administration to be followed by a Federal State in the North
and the East, he said.
He said all these things were aimed at destabilizing the country and
the new conspiracy is partnered now by JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe,
Mangala Samaraweera. and Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Amerasinghe returning from his visit abroad had said recently that
the GSP+ concession to the apparel industry will be given only if
President Mahinda Rajapaksa was defeated.
Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mangala Samaraweera believe that the
international community is Norway, EU and USA. But President Rajapaksa
with foresight had pledged to forge links and good relations with India,
China Pakistan and all other countries in his Mahinda Chintana policy
program.
US President Barak Obama too had said during his UN address that the
US cannot be a superpower in isolation. That was why Senator John Kerry
has said US should not isolate Sri Lanka as it was an important nation
to the US.
But Mangala Samaraweera or Ranil Wickremesinghe had not realized this
fact, he noted.
