Jeewa Australian Education centre meets students' needs

There is an increase in the number of students seeking educational
opportunities in foreign countries as the level of education has
improved over the years. The Jeewa Australian Education Centre caters to
this need with its two branches at Panadura and Battaramulla.
The Centre has tied up with the Queensland Institute of Business
Technology (QIBT) on Griffith University's Mt Gravatt Campus Australia.
Sri Lankan students had the opportunity to meet QIBT representative,
Emily Haralampou at a free information session and seminar. "The
prospective student response is encouraging", she said.
The meeting provided the students an opportunity to have an insight
in to the education system and lifestyle in Australia. They posed many
questions and received answers at the consultation. The parents were
also happy about the information they received where their children
intend to study, she said.
The Jeewa Australian Education Centre is the agent which has been
represented QIBT for many years has a strong and closer relationship. It
provides excellent advice to students. Since 1997, QIBT and Griffith
University have worked together to help over 6,000 students gain access
to tertiary studies, thus earning the reputation as Queensland's leading
University pathway provider.
QIBT is in Brisbane- an ideal place to live and study. It is
Australia's fastest growing capital city and is widely considered the
country's most livable city, offering safe and multi-cultural
environment. It has students from 28 countries including Sri Lanka, she
said.
Representatives from QIBT visit Sri Lanka to meet prospective
students and parents to provide an internationally recognized education.
Its study programs include Bio Science, Commerce, Justice, Graphic
Designing, Engineering, Hotel Management, IT and pre-masters programs.
The QIBT will open a second campus in 2011, she said.
She said, QIBT is very popular and a reputed institution for
international students. They secure a high success rate due to the
equally high standards of teaching and excellent supportive services we
offer. The Jeewa Australian Education Centre will facilitate the needs
of students planning to study in Australia.
SAITM, a boon to students

A team of qualified and experienced academics such as Heads of
Department from State universities in Sri Lanka forms the academic and
administrative staff of the South Asian Institute of Technology and
Management (SAITM), President and Chairman, Dr. Neville Fernando told
Daily News Business.
He said that SAITM launched the first private sector green campus in
four acres of land in Malabe in various fields such as Medicine,
Mechatronics, Civil Engineering, IT and Management, Foreign Languages
and Communication and Media.
"We have 40 registered students for Medicine who will complete their
first semester by March 2010. They excelled at the GCE Advanced Level
examination. We will start the de-section next month. We expect to
increase the number of students to 100 for the next batch in February
next year," he said.
He said that degrees in medicine will be awarded by the Nizhny
Novgorod State Medical Academy of the Russian Federation and the
Engineering Faculty which was affiliated to the Asian Institute of
Technology, Bangkok. It is a prestigious University in Asia providing
education to over 20,000 students. Students can follow Degree programs
in Engineering in Sri Lanka and go to the Wolverhampton, UK to complete
the degree. The Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy is one of the
renowned medical institutions in Russia. Since its inauguration in 1920
it ensured that its students have a broad and up-to-date knowledge in
the rapidly expanding field of medicine. Instructions in English was
introduced at Nizhny in 1998. The State university which can accommodate
over 3,800 students has over 600 students from 31 countries including 85
from Sri Lanka, studying at the Faculty of Overseas admission.

A leading hospital in India, Miot hospital will set up a branch in
Sri Lanka to treat patients suffering from Arthritis. Miot Hospitals,
Joint Managing Director, Dr Prithvi Mohandas told a press conference at
the Hotel Cinnamon Grand last week.
He said that the Miot hospital has introduced a unique concept called
"A joint for Life", according to statistics there are 25,000 young
people with ankylosing spondilitis in Sri Lanka and these patients will
benefit from this concept.
Dr Mohandas said that the Arthritis cripples people leading to a
painful existence. The Joint Replacement Surgery is the greatest
orthopaedic invention in the century and this treatment puts the patient
back on his feet in a short time. The Miot hospital has more than 35
years' experience and attended to over 25,000 joint.
With the end of the war Sri Lanka would be a potential place to
invest and Miot hospital will set up branch in February next year with
an initial investment of one million rupees.
The Miot Hospital, Chennai has a concept of individually selecting
artificial joints for each patient based depending on his or her needs
and bone quality and the public need to know about the latest technology
which can last a lifetime.
Ramzi outlet in Ja-ela
Beautician, Ramzi Rahaman opened the latest branch of his salon chain
at Ja-ela.
This is the third branch that will be added to the outlet list, the
others being at Duplication Road and the Hotel Galadari.
Emphasizing Ramzi's requirement of providing convenience to his
