Seminar on 5S

A seminar on "Management for Efficiency Improvement" based on the principles of the 5S system was held recently at the main Auditorium of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The event was organized by the Association for International Standards (AIS), an affiliate member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

AIS has been responsible for many successful seminars and workshops on varied subjects related to "best practices" for the benefit of local businesses.

Over one hundred participants from the Apparel Industry, manufacturing giants from the FMCG sector, Ceramics, Power Cables, Insurance, family businesses and a host of others attended this seminar, which was conducted by Mahinda Saranapala who is the President of AIS and a pioneer of the 5S concept in Sri Lanka.

Over the last 20 years, Mahinda has implemented the 5S system in more than 45 companies and five National Hospitals. Some of these companies have won many National awards in Productivity, Quality, Safety and Gold awards at the "Taiki Akimoto 5S Competition".
