Brohier heads OWSC
Richard Dwight
The former Wesley Cricketer, Jeremy Brohier, and one who is actively
associated with the Old Wesleyites Sports Club (OWSC) and to an extent
with the Old Boys Union (OBU), was unanimously elected as the new
President of the OWSC at its recently held AGM at the ‘Club House.’ Like
his illustrious father the late, Ralph Brohier, who represented St.
Joseph’s and the NCC at cricket, Jeremy too turned out to be a fine
cricketer and athlete for Wesley. On joining the OWSC in its revival
year in 1990 he acquitted himself creditably holding responsible
positions in the committee.
He did well as the chairman of the ‘Double Blue Ball’ dance committee
on two occasions, was the Secretary of the Gymnasium project and the
Deputy Chairman at the last Munchee Glucofit Schools cricket sixes held
in October.
He was also a vice President of the OBU and now serves the Wesley
Cricket Council. In his address to the membership he emphasized that the
vibrant arm of Wesley today was the OWSC.
He appealed to all Wesleyites to unite as one family, patronize the
club regularly and participate at its events and activities whilst
networking amongst old friends more regularly in order that it could
build a sound financial base to stabilize itself which would be
beneficial to its members and to Wesley at large.
His vision is to see that the club shifts its focus into a more
family orientated environment by introducing a restaurant concept. He
mentioned that such a shift cannot be expected overnight but with the
help of God and the active participation of its members it could be
achieved.
Jeremy a mild mannered, unassuming man, given to sober disciplined
ways, knows when to speak and when to withhold his speech - with the
inherent forthright ability in calling a spade, when things go wrong.
It’s such a man as this that is now being entrusted to take the OWSC to
greater heights. |
