Tiny Amal cagers steal the show

In a triangular series of friendly Under 11 basketball matches
between Asian International School, Vidura College and Amal
International School organized by Amal International School, the little
Amal cagers won their matches hands down, showing their superiority in
all areas (shooting, dribbling and even a fast break).
In the first match Vidura College won 14-8. All seven baskets were
scored by towering Isika Gunaratne who simply could not be defended when
he raised the ball as he's almost a head taller than all others showing
that height is definitely an advantage for a basketball player.
Dulaj Munasinghe played well for Asian International scoring 6 points
and Vidhan Chand (2) while tiny Chris Christie defended Vidura's tall
Isika with a lot of energy.
In the second match Amal defeated Vidura College 22-0. The eight year
old Amal cager Usama Khan (10), Omar Zahaar (8), M. Farzan (4) were a
class above the rest. Well trained and well practiced they played with
ease scoring effortlessly and defended their basket well, not allowing
the ball to come to Vidura's offensive court at all.
The last match of the evening between Amal and AIS saw former win at
8-2. Omar Zahaar (4), Usama Khan (2) and M. Farzaan (2) played well for
the winners and Chris Christie scored 2 points for the losers.
In the wake of the great enthusiasm displayed by the tiny cagers,
Sports Co-ordinator of Amal International Gerald Jacob has decided to
conduct a Christmas holidays Basketball Camp for beginners both boys and
girls at Amal International School. |
