Cuba slams UN Security Council over Palestine
[Gaza issue]
* Urged to find a just solution
* Lack of action due to double measures
UN: Cuba criticized the UN Security Council on Monday for not
approaching in depth debate over Palestine to find a just and impartial
solution to the conflict.
The criticism was made by the permanent representative of Cuba to the
UN, Pedro Nunez Mosquera, during a plenary session of the General
Assembly on the Palestine issue.
The diplomat pointed that the lack of action in the Council is a
result of applying double measuring sticks or veto threat on the part of
the United States to any draft resolution aims at a just and impartial
solution to the conflict.
Meanwhile, he said, those responsible for the barbarian acts in
Palestinean territories continue unpunished.
Nunez Mosquera said such impunity is only possible by the protection
of Washington to Israel and the continuation of giving that country
financial resources and US weapons with which Tel Aviv sustains its
aggressive policy.
He stressed that Israeli military aggression on Gaza increased the
number of dead, wounded, displaced and homeless Palestineans, specially
in that sieged strip.
He also repudiated the blockade imposed by Israel on the territory,
the restrictions exerted on the circulation of Palestinians and other
measures implanted by Tel Aviv.
