Obama proposes strategy to Pakistan
[US proposals]
* Effort to reduce tension
* To help win over Afghan rebels
US: The US Government proposed a strategic association to Pakistan
with the condition that the Pakistani Government cuts its links with
rebel militias against India, said US newspaper The Washington Post
Monday.
Anonymous sources consulted by the US newspaper said US National
Security Advisor James Jones delivered a letter written by US President
Barack Obama to his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari, in which
Obama suggests Zardari to increase military and economic collaboration
between the US and Pakistan.
The letter has been regarded as an effort to help to reduce tension
between Islamabad and New Delhi and a sample more of the strategic
importance of Pakistan to get the victory over the Afghan rebels in the
region.
