A polished knock of 98 by Shihan Kamaleen for Thurstan College was
the highlight of their schools Under - 19 cricket tournament match
against Dharmaraja College which ended in a no decision at Lake View
Grounds Kandy yesterday.
Shihan Kamaleen was in cracking form hitting 12 fours and a six
before he was dismissed when he appeared to be well set to reach a well
deserved century. Rains interfered with play on both days. On the first
day only 55 overs were bowled and the Thurstanites scored 170 for 3.
For the Rajans spinner and skipper Ramesh Yapa Bandara bowled well to
capture 4 for 79.
Rajans in reply made 100 for 3 in 33 overs before rain once again
drove the players to the pavilion soon after lunch and they were never
to return again.
Thurstan College 273 for 7 declared in 80.5 overs (Shihan Kamaleen
98, Jehan Jawid 60, Thisara Madurapperuma 35, Ramesh Yapa Bandara 4 for
79, Rahula Ekanayake 2 for 80, Pratap Silva 1 for 40).
Dharmaraja College 100 for 3 in 33 overs (Kasun Wijekoon 41 not out,
Sandun Weerakody 31, Ramesh Yapa Bandara 20, S. Wijesinghe 1 for 2, S.
Kamaleen 1 for 21, D. Athauda 1 for 19).
