With the dawn of peace, the human resource of the country should be
developed for the country's development said Public Administration and
Home Affair Minister and Home Affairs and Planning Deputy Minister
Sarath Amunugama at the launch of the Institute of Leadership and
Management in Sri Lanka. The Minister was the chief guest on the
occasion.
He said that vocational training is necessary for Sri Lankans in
achieving their development goals. Sri Lanka has been investing on
education from the kindergarten level to University level.
The gap between the education received and real world necessities can
be filled only by vocational qualifications, he said.
Good leadership and management holds the key to organization
effectiveness, social and economic prosperity, City and Guilds Group,
Hub Manager, MESA Region, Amanda Kelleher said.
She said that this will be a professional qualification for Sri
Lankan students for better opportunities for career prospects.
Management and leadership qualifications will be provided for the
learners in three levels such as the Award level, the Certificate level
and the Diploma level.
The levels are designed for the convenience of the learners so that
they can choose the level they want to graduate.
The level of courses will be based on the management position one
held at the place of occupation. During the period of study the
education delivered will be monitored and reported accordingly.
Employers too can encourage their employees to acquire vocational
qualification through City and Guilds, Leadership and Management
programs, she said. |
