Minidadhiri, an Art Festival and Musical Extravaganza, will be held
at Viharamahadevi park on December 2 at 5 p.m. The event is organized by
the Visual and Performing Arts University's Student Society.
Visual and Performing Arts University has been the leading teaching
institute in the country aesthetic sector for decades. They had held a
number of extraordinary exhibitions, concerts, shows and demonstrations.
However the university was yet to stage an Art Festival.
The Students society decided to bring together the best of talent in
the university with the purpose of exhibiting the diverse talent which
is embodied by their students.
A host of new creations, dance performances, visual arts exhibits,
speeches and workshops will take over the premises at Minidadhiri.
Renowned vocalists Sanath Nandasiri, Malkanthi Nandasiri, Victor
Ratnayake, Nanda Malini, Dayaratna Ranatunga, Amara Ranatunga, Sunil
Edirisinghe, Amarasiri Peries, Bhanuka Dissanayake, Rashmi Sangeetha,
Indika Upamali, Ravi Alagiyawatta and others will perform during the
musical concert which is a part of the Art Festival. An orchestra
comprising the university staff, students as well as some professions
will provide music. The stage setting is by the students of the Visual
Art Faculty.
