Higher growth in 2010
No risk of balance of payment crisis:
The recent decline in interest rates should
support higher growth in 2010, the International Monetary Fund
office in Colombo said yesterday.

Second Airport construction begins
The construction work on the second
international airport will commence on November 27 at Mattala,
Hambantota. Ports and Aviation Minister Chamal Rajapaksa said the
new airport will be constructed on a 2,000 hectare bare land in
Hambantota district at a cost of US $ 200 million.

Novel Influenza vaccine to arrive in December
The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry has
decided to import WHO approved Novel Influenza (A)H1N1 2009 vaccine
to Sri Lanka and has already placed the order. The vaccine will
arrive in December. So far 258 clinically proved Novel Influenza
(A)H1N1 patients have been discovered from Sri Lanka and five deaths
have been reported so far.
