Short Drama Festival at Lionel Wendt
Sihina Rangahala (Theatre of Dreams), a collection of one act plays
produced by award winning playwright Dhananjaya Karunaratne will be
staged at Lionel Wendt on November 29 at 7 p.m.
The show will include Valentine Enakan played by Chandani Seneviratne
and Susith Nishantha, Chandrawathie Samaga Rathriyak played by Palitha
Silva and Kawshalya Fernando, Duwana un Dennek played by Chamal
Ranasinghe and Dimithu Chinthaka, Oba Sapekshai played by Madani
Malwathtage and Sanath Wimalasiri and Last Bus Eke Kathawa portrayed by
Saumya Liyanage.
Music in Sihina Rangaha is by Kapila Poogalaarachchi's Last Bus Eke
Kathawa is an extraordinary play that built a close relationship between
the audience and the actor. It had become popular in the English theatre
as well with its translation by Ruwanthi de Chickera and played by Gihan
de Chickera. It was also performed in a number of countries. You can
enjoy the original Sinhala version of the play in Sihina Rangahala.
The latest addition to the series Duwana Un Dennek (Two People on
Run), is a tragic-comedy influenced by physical theater has already been
a very popular one act play. The other plays are also centered on very
intimate and sensitive subjects.
Over the past few years Dhananjaya has been experimenting in search
of a more proactive and sensitive style of theatre. This series is a
successful result of an experiment.
