Rains to continue

The weather conditions in many parts of the country will continue for at least for another three days, Duty Forecaster Chaminda de Silva said. He said the reason for the present weather was the low pressure as well as disturbances in the low level atmosphere.

He said North, East, North Central and Southern Province would experience occasional showers accompanied by thunder and lightening.

The Duty Forecaster added that thunder showers would occur in most parts of the island.

According to the Met Department, Vavuniya recorded the highest rainfall with 104 millimetres, Moneragala 77.5, Hambantota 51.1, Batticaloa 47.3 and Anuradhapura 41.7.
