IGP vows to maintain law and order

It was a historic and proud day for the Ananda College Colombo
yesterday as the Principal, staff and the students of the College
received new Inspector General of Police Mahinda Balasuriya, a
distinguished old boy of the college, at a ceremony held at the College
premises.
At the entrance IGP Mahinda Balasuriya was received by Scout Cubs and
escorted him to the College premises by Principal L.M.D. Dharmasena and
the other members of the staff where the new IGP offered flowers to the
Buddha statue at the Kularatne Hall.
Later a religious ceremony was conducted by Ven. Chandraratne
Hanguranketha thera and the Anusasana rendered by Ven. Adapahakanda
Ananda thera, Vice Principal of Ananda College.
IGP Mahinda Balasuriya was also honoured by the Ananda College
Scouts. The new IGP later paid floral tributes to the War Heros of the
Ananda College.
“ I am proud to be an Anandian. Ananda guided me to achieve the
highest post in the Sri Lanka Police Department. My sincere thanks to my
parents and the teachers who assisted me to achieve this position, said
IGP Mahinda Balasuriya.
During my three and half year period as an IGP I will do my best to
maintain the high standard of law and order in the country, the new IGP
said.
He also thanked President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Ratnasiri
Wickremanayake , an old boy of the Ananda College, Defence Secretary
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the Government for giving him the opportunity to
work for the country as the Inspector General of Police.
