CII EXCON 2009 Road Show in Colombo
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), an apex industry
association is organizing Excon 2009, India's largest and only focused
construction equipment and construction technology trade fair between
November 25 -29 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC),
Bangalore, India. This five-day exhibition is expected to attract over
350 exhibitors and 50,000 business visitors from across the globe.
The CII with its strategic partner in Sri Lanka, the Ceylon Chamber
of Commerce, organized a Road Show in promotion of EXCON 2009 in
Colombo, recently. Over 100 participants representing the construction,
building materials and engineering sectors of Sri Lanka were present at
the promotion. Ministry of Construction and Engineering Services of Sri
Lanka Secretary, Nissanka Wijeratne was the Chief Guest at the event.
Excon 2009 Steering Committee Member and Schwing Stetter India Pvt
Ltd, Managing Director Anand Sundaresan in his presentation on Excon
2009 said, "Excon is Asia's third largest trade fair for equipment
industry and amongst world's top ten construction equipment and
construction technology trade fairs". Besides showcasing world class
products and services in the construction equipment sector, it would
also demonstrate the technological prowess of the construction equipment
industry.
Sundaresan said that the Government of India has accorded top
priority for the growth of the infrastructure sector. To achieve a new
vision of growth, the Planning Commission of the Government of India has
estimated a planned investment of US $ 500 billion in infrastructure in
the Eleventh Five Year Plan (2007-2012).
The projected investment in the roads sector, including national
highways and rural roads is USD 76 billion, of which a large part is
expected to come from private sector, said Sundaresan.
He also said that India is increasingly becoming the construction
equipment and component sourcing base for the industry and hence the
construction and infrastructure sector in Sri Lanka can utilize Excon
2009 to identify potential business partners for sourcing construction
equipment/technologies.
Excon 2009, is an excellent platform for the Government of Sri Lanka
to identify potential industry partners in the construction equipment
sector, who could offer their expertise and services in the
rehabilitation activities such as; construction of highways, housing,
sanitation, etc.
Sundaresan said that currently in its fifth edition, Excon has grown
to become one of the important construction equipment events in Asia
Pacific. On behalf of CII, he invited all participants to visit
Bangalore to attend Excon 2009 event. Excon 2009 would feature
participation of international exhibitors from over 90 companies. There
will be international pavilions from Germany, United Kingdom, Italy and
China.
Excon 2009 is a demonstrative exhibition wherein most exhibitors do
active demonstrations of their equipment to communicate to the visitors
on the versatility/capability of the equipment. In short, he said that
Excon 2009 will be "the One Stop Shop for the Construction Equipment
buying".
Exhibits on display include dozers, earth excavators, front end
loaders, graders and vibratory soil compactors, paving equipment,
integrated concrete-bitumen batching, mixing equipment, mobile and
stationary crushing equipment, material handling equipment, hydraulic
and pneumatic drilling equipment, sewer construction and maintenance
systems, conduit construction systems, trenchers, underground
cable-laying, pipe laying, drainage and trench digging equipment,
lubricants and tyres.
Apart from the exhibition, Excon 2009 will organize a CEOs Roundtable
on Construction Equipment Industry on November 26 at Bangalore. |
