Trinity Weightlifting Team hits new heights
The Trinity College Weightlifting team is coached by P.K.N. Dayan, a
South Asian Games Silva medalist. He has done yeoman service for
Weightlifting at Trinity with total commitment to the task. His efforts
have been well rewarded for the Trinity team and has returned to the
alma mater after each competition with an abundance of medals and
trophies.
Trinity have been the champion schools' team at the 'Nationals' and
also brought back for the first time a medal at an International
Competition when I.M. Aqaam Wahabdeen won the Bronze medal at the 95 kg
weight class at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in
Malaysia. Two Trinitians secured places in the Sri Lanka team, S.
Liyanaratchi and I.M. Aqaam Wahabdeen.
It is to the credit of Trinity that now they are producing
Weightlifters who are performing at the International Level being
coached by Dayan who is totally devoted to the sport. |
