Matale CC by 51 runs

Despite an aggressive knock of 94 with 16 fours and 3 sixes off only 62 balls by J.I. Wickremarachchi, Matara Sports Club lost by 51 runs to Matale Cricket Club in their Sri Lanka Cricket's inter club Division One limited over cricket tournament match played at the Bernard Aluwihare Stadium in Matale on Wednesday.

Wickremarachchi could have brought victory, to his had he only curbed his impatience to pile on the runs as he was adjudged leg before wicket in trying to smite the ball when a more responsible innings from him was required at that stage of the match.

Match winner for Matale CC was St. Thomas' College cricket captain Ruwantha Kellepotha who captured 4 for 28 with his leg spinners despite the onslaught by Wickremarachchi.

Matale CC 265 all out in 48.1 overs (Rajitha Ranaweera 50, Damith Rangana 43, Shaveendra Amaradasa 42, Malith de Silva 38, Janith Welagedera 25, Ruwantha Kellepotha 23, Amith Tillakaratne 23, Prasanna Aluwihare 16, Madhusanka Ekanayake 2 for 45, A. Umesh 2 for 20).
