All top golfers in action today

Top fare is expected at the monthly medal golf championship of Victoria Golf and Country Resort is worked off at the 18 hole golf course today at 7.30 a.m.

A very large number of golfers both ladies and gentlemen are expected to tee off at this popular golf championship which is gaining momentum with every competition. Some of the golfers who had excelled in the past competitions who are expected to tee off are Englishman Ian Tait, Sujeewa Lankatillake, Sam Gunaratne, Bo Lindberg, Sirath Kasthuriratne, Chamil Wickremasinghe, Errol Johnston, Sunil Udalagama, Suren Waas, Ravi Mediwake and many others, in the fray.

The competition for ladies will seen Sonia Boyle, Jyoti Haynes, Indira Tibblins. Manori Jayakoddy, Sawen Selvaratnam, Lillian Perera, Pauline Morley and many others in the tussle.

The General Manager of the Victoria Golf and Country Resort Errol Johnston said that with the help of the little rains experienced in the region, the course and the fairways have been brought upto topping conditions to provide the thrills for the golfers.

The Course Manager Maheel Bulumulla has on the job to make the course a challenging one.

This competition will be played in several segments - For men Division one and Division two Nett events, followed by Gross and Nett winners and the overall Nett winner. For ladies there will be gross and Nett competitions and they could also have a tilt at the Overall Nett event like the way Linda Harris did it in June championship by beating the men to it.

Victoria golf course which is vying for the 'Best Course in the Sub-Continent' will also know on this day whether it had won it for the second successive year. This awards ceremony was held in Malaysia this week by the Asian Golf Digest. If it had won, it is going to be a day for great rejoicing.
